Come Fi Mash It Up

Another gig notification in lieu of a real post! I'm hoping to get something (anything) written up this weekend (not because I care about you fleshy oiks, but because the mental snowdrifts are starting to close in again). Ive done feck all music-wise since the Beat Suite gig mentioned below, and the venerable Naphta is up to his neck in mix, gig, and production-related activities, but we should be able to throw you all a few scraps (such as Naphtas excellent set at same recent old skool gig) soon before we hunker down and get some real work done.

In unrelated news: Distinctly Jamaican Sounds - new addition to the links under 'Reggae and Dancehall' - utterly essential reading (and listening) for those of you unfamiliar with early dancehall. Ive also added a handy list of all our mixes at the top right of the page for all you mixtape junkies in search of instant gratification, oh and: DISASTER!!

Get better soon Eden!

Anyway heres the details of the gig - great line-up, not too keen on the venue though...

BASSBIN presents:
OLD SKOOL ROLLERS

Naphta (Bassbin)

Don Rosco (Bassbin)

Ricky Force (Aerial)

MC Stitch

@ POGO at POD, Sat March 25th

Its that time of year again folks – it’s the Bassbin Old Skool Mash Up 2006!

Continuing Bassbin's sessions as guests of the POGO crew, this night has been 12 years in the making. All of Naphta & Don Rosco's years behind the decks and digging in the crates will be brought to bear on this event, and only the most rolling and heaviest tunes will make the cut. Big funk breaks, the rudest basslines and the fattest hooks are the order of the day. Ricky Force will be kicking things off, testing the big Crawdaddy sound with his own Old Skool gems.

With the lyrical lynchpin MC Stitch on hand to hype the crowd, this will be another firin' installment to the Bassbin @ POGO story!!

Cheers,

Genie & Bassbin Kru.

PS: Firehouse Skank vs The Rootical Soundsystem, also planned for this Saturday has been postponed until April 22nd. More info here.

Old Skool Principles

Back again this friday with another top notch line up.. this time we're back in "The Basement" @ Mischief for some underground bizniz with an oldskool jungle night!

Our chosen selectors are as follows:

The Golden Maverick

To kick things off we have a true jungle veteran. A member of the Gappy Foundation crew, he has had numerous shows on the infamous Power FM back when it was on the airwaves! sadly missed imo. Be prepared for some serious choppage and rude bwoy tune selection. so be sure to get down early!

Naphta

A proud parent of the bassbin massive. With releases on looney toonz and bassbin recordings, also the mastermind behind the "soverign rhythms" mixes. two of the best mixes ever recorded! Not much more to say that yiz already know.. besides amazin selections, and tight mixing. Unmissable!

Droid + Slug

The tightest and most precise oldskool djs you'll ever see and hear! - These two junglists are unique at what they do, a truly unparralled pair of djs. Be prepared for the most exquisite selections, with the ninja skills to match. They're also responsible for www.thefear.ie and the droid + slug@studiob mix - another top class oldskool recording... Again, an unmissible act..

Bring the horns for this one!

Lookin' forward to this. Hope to see some local readers there tomorrow night... its €5 in with a flyer, €6 without. Hopefully youll get to hear a recording at some point in the near future as well...
