Blogariddims is back...

...after an extended Christmas holiday - due mainly to some pesky scheduling problems. After some odd goings on towards the end of last year, we're back on track with a new schedule and the first show of 2008: Paul Meme's fantastic '2step heaven' all vinyl selection of classic garage. Like most of us on these shores I pretty much missed out on garage during its heyday, as for some reason, despite its chart success, the sound never really caught on here and the records were nigh on impossible to get apart from the odd 12" here and there, so this episode (the first Blogariddims to fully explore this influential genre) is particularly welcome to these ears. You can subscribe to the cast here or download the episode directly here, or download all the episodes here.

For those of you who missed it in the pre-xmas panic, be sure to check out Slug and Modyfier's contribution from December. Yes - its another shwantology type mix, but this one was all done using Max/MSP to mutate the source material supplied by Modyfier beyond recognition, so its less of a mix and more of an hour long remix. Check it out here.

Naphta Competition Results Pt.2

Since that last post Ive been engulfed in such a tide of complaints, (some of them quite insulting and hurtful) that Ive relented and decided that there will be prizes after all.

Seeing as no-one got the right answer, I've selected 2 winners from everyone who commented using a complex formula involving the I-Ching, 6 x 32 sided AD&D dice, a random number generator and several rounds of rock-paper-scissors.

The lucky deckhands are: Doppelganger and james.faction with a bogey prize going to jb for inventiveness. Send your addresses to droid (at) thefear.ie and Ill have the warehouse send out your CD's post haste.

Naphta Competition Results

I suppose its about time I posted these. The answer was (obviously) Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of The Carribean. Only recently Naphta confessed to me (in the strictest of confidence) that he'd been obsessing over the films, and whilst choking back briney tears went on to say that Johnny Depps' camp performances had affected him on a deeply personal level - that 'everything is different now... everything'

The sad news is that no-one guessed correctly so there'll be no prizes....
